Your comments will certainly help guide our thinking about ILCA membership, and may be used as a part of the materials we use to help others learn about ILCA.
Thank you for helping us learn more about what matters most to you about ILCA.
ILCA has enabled me to create practice change in my community, supporting families with various challenges in the practice of exclusive breastfeeding.
I really like the Fast Track articles in the JHL. Very insightful and I often share them with mothers. I always look forward to reading the latest research articles in the JHL. I always have a big smile on my face when it arrives in the mail.
Ilca has given me confidence in promoting and supporting breastfeeding to mothers with challenges in a kenyan urban slums of informal settlement. The journal and current updates all sum up to the great wealth of knowledge and experience.
Me gustaría estar actualizada en muchos temas, ojalá pudiesen tener traducción al idioma Español, también considerando aquella Consejera con años de trabajo en el areá.
Iam a Paediatrician & deals with mothers on regular basis who had issue with their latch & other lactation related issues, through ILCA membership, my knowledge and practice will get strengthen regarding breast feeding related issues and mothers will definitely get benefit through it!
Every year I “sell” ILCA memberships to my colleagues as the best value/resource for CERPS. I work in a large hospital in the US. The biggest challenge is renewals come at Holiday time and cash is short! Plus more to join USA…I wish there was a “mini” free trial ILCA membership option: no CERPS, no JHL, but membership in our organization. I value the email posts. So those would come with a mini free trial membership. Reduced price of CERPS as well. After 6 months, trIal members can continue OR for $10 US per month, go to full membership Our organization would have a greater voice if all IBCLCs were members! Plus other lactation supporters: WIC Peer Counselors, volunteers in peer2peer organizations, students, EVERONE who “gets it” that breastfeeding is a human right!
Thank you so much for your comments and your active recruitment of members. We are passing your suggestions directly on to our staff. We hear you. In addition to exploring the options you suggest, we also want you to know that ILCA membership is now on an “anniversary” cycle versus a “calendar year” cycle. Members can join at ANY time and get 12 months of membership. If someone renews before their membership has expired, 12 months is added from their expiration date. This frees up people to not lose out on valuable membership time if they join after the first of the year.
Currently, I’m not practicing as a lactation consultant (taking a career detour into infectious disease nursing!). I’ve used my ILCA membership to stay informed about what’s happening in the lactation world. I’ve also used the free CERPs to continue my growth as an IBCLC, even if I’m not currently using the certification. JHL and the CERPs make membership worth the cost to help me stay involved in lactation.
The ILCA benefit that is most beneficial to me is the free continuing education. The varying monthly offerings prompt me to connect with a diverse learning community, which creates personal and professional growth.
Being a member helps me to increase my knowledge on evidence based practice and helps me be connected worldwide with other consultants learning together to create a better beginning for moms and babes.
The most important benefits of my ILCA subscription are the free continue education and the journal of human lactation access
ILCA is very important to me in my practice as a LC, it provides evidence-based research that I can use as guidelines for educating staff and guiding mother’s throughout their breastfeeding journey. I find the website very breastfeeding friendly and helpful with obtaining CERP points towards my registration as a LC/Midwife.
I work as a hospital based lactation consultant. I appreciate all the research, webinars, diverse cutting edge information available to us, that helps to enhance our practice. Even if you can’t view the webinar, everything is recorded, so you can learn at your own pace.
My # 1 benefit from ILCA is Education, via JHL, yearly conferences,& webinars ! Information about lactation has evolved so much in the past 30 years and ILCA helps me keep up with new info.
I am a IBCLC and registered nurse. I like volunteering and 2 years ago i submitted my CV to ILCA voluntering site. Now I am a member in two of it is groups. In this groups I got chance to connect with a great ILCA breastfeeding bodies and advoctes from around the world. I am living in the Middle East, but meeting team online made me closure to them as a family, brouder my vision, and my critical thinking. Nice net working, team work and support. ILCA updates us also about the recent researches in the BF world.
The continuing education programs always teach me something new to add to my practice
I appreciate the opportunity of being part of a global organization that is protecting, promoting and supporting breastfeeding. ILCA can work at a policy and education level and I like supporting that.
ILCS helps me stay up to date on lactation topics so I can provide evidence based education. I tell colleagues to join ILCA for the monthly resources thsygive CERPs. I like having access to the JHL online that csnbe searched by topic. ILCA is a valuable resource!
